The mysterious flaming statue

Now this is interesting. It is a stereo picture of a statue in Bristol. I was processing the images to put them to gether as an anaglyph 3D picture, when I noticed the glow above the head. I adjusted the contrast and found out it was not just an illusion. If the effect only apperead in one of the pictures, it might be explained as a random artifact, perhaps something wrong in the film. But the glow appeares in exactly the same place in both images! This does not only minimize the possibility of random noise, but only tells the glow actually comes from the statue - not behind it!

It appears as if there's some kind of heat coming from the statue, mainly from the head and the shoulders, but a bit also from the fish (why not from the fork?). Could it be that the heat? Anybody have any better ideas?

The original image with slightly added contrast and a stereo pair(parallel viewed)with strong contrast enhancement

A close-up with even more contrast and an anaglyph 3D picture. The close-up reveals the light above the shoulders too.
