The Crop Circles as a target of mockery in Finland

Yes... there are Crop Circles also in Finland. This alone is not extremely astonishing; the world is uniting and national borders are not very significant in these matters. Of course it is great that the phenomenon also starts to bloom here in Finland, but unfortunately the atmosphere here is not very suitable. People are informed about these things mostly from the public media where they unfortunately they are handled with a childish ridicule. For instance, in an article in the "Keski-Uusimaa" (a local newspaper in Southern Finland) people interested in the Crop Circles were called UFO enthusiasts associating the formations with humanoids and flying saucers. I have talked with these "UFO enthusiasts" (am I perhaps included myself?), and none of them has talked about flying saucers or humanoids!

To my belief this negative approach works against the appearing of Crop Circles and other fascinating phenomena. "What you give is what you get" is valid also in paranormal phenomena. I hope our citizens learn to think for themselves and to find information also from more reliable and serious sources than the local newspapers or television. Of course language problems are in the way of receiving international information.

I visited three of the Southern Finland's formations, but after my recent trip to England I was somewhat unable to really get any kick out of these. Of course it is interesting that as in other countries, excluding England, the Crop Circles are mostly random individual cases, in Finland we have four within a week! To me it is personally exciting that the Circles near Helsinki appeared immediately after my arrival in the region after my journey. Furthermore, the first found formation was a "miniature" of a formation very significant for me, the Stonehenge Julia set! Did I bring the "Circle makers" with me from England?

Yet I was more excited about a field I saw from the car window on my way home. The field was almost totally flattened against the ground. Unlike normal weather damage, the borders between the flattened and erect stalks were absolutely sharp. I visited the field with a skeptic friend of mine and neither of us could explain many of the features in the flattened extensions and pathways, nor the strange bending of the stalks. In some places, for example, the stalks had arranged themselves in fine "feathers" or fans, all of them bending in the same angle at the highest node!

There was at least two or three hectares (hectare=10.000 square meters) of flattened crop; this would be really a lot for a Crop Circle, even though some of them have been quite large. I don't think this was a Crop Circle in the strict meaning of the word, but some kind of a combination of wind and rain damage and the energy fields in the atmosphere and the in the soil. We heard that the field has gone flat almost as badly each year it has been grown, even though the crop has been changed many times. Perhaps the exploration of this kind of fields could bring some information of the forces operating in the real Crop Circles.
